Devlog 01 (PlayerMovement)

Devlog 01

After receiving some great feedback from my classmates, I realized there are a fair few bugs with the prototype build, this is to be expected buts it is still good to receive a clear idea of what need improvement.

This first weeks build has just been an experiment in implementing some very basic mechanics for how the game will work later down the track, In this build I have included some building mechanics for place tools from a UI bar and also marble spawning mechanics which will be a major part of the game, I have also done a little bit of working figuring out the art style by creating a marble graphic and testing out some color schemes on the background.

Feedback:

From Josh "Marbles move fine. Build controls are good. Marbles can get stuck to the wall when touching other marbles and can get effected by a build tile that has been placed but is then moved again (while it is still being moved by the mouse). Sometimes the wrong tile can be selected (click on the tile you want and it selects another tile.)"

From Simon "A small issue with when you click the pink square then another square and right click it will still only place the pink square with it's physics. Might be cool to add a more dynamic world where different physics exist and you can use your blocks to combat the physics in the world - just an idea"

Improvements to be made:

Clicking on the build button while moving or building an object will place that object and spawn a new one.

Marbles stack perfectly on spawn, added a slight amount of velocity on x axis to prevent this.

Its clear to me that this needs to be fixed asap, however as of right now I will continue working on some more major features of the game and come back to these changes when I have time to polish. Overall I am happy with how the game is coming along although its in early stages, its exciting to see some mechanics coming together.
